So… after the earlier episode with the 2 death knights I went about my merry way and kept questing. Then I found this 62 human warrior and I attacked. He was prot.. he stunlocked me better than a rogue and he killed me. I came back, tried to fly and he charged/stunned/killed me. The third time I beat him. And the fourth. And the fifth.
An 80 death knight comes along and spoils all the fun. He was obviously a friend or a main of the warrior, who I really really hope was not the same as the 2 earlier death knights.
I call in my friend Ginny to help with the DK. By the time she gets there I had run away and the DK was nowhere in sight. So I go back to questing and she flies around randomly.
.
Then she whispers me and says “haha I’ve been camping these 2 death knights over and over!!! Hahaha I think that was like the 30th time!”
Ooooooh boy.
Then she gets this mad whisper. And then that person (a lowbie hunter this time) whispers me too. And that was what was said above.
.
And now it’s time for the age-old discussion on the Morals of Ganking and Camping and PvP.
Definitions:
1. Ganking. A high-level over-geared player with an extreme advantage attacking and killing a lower-levelled disadvantaged player.
2. Camping. Repeated attacks against a player even after they have been killed, waiting for them to resurrect and then killing them again.
3. PvP. Player versus Player.
None of these situations are fun for the loser. At least, in most situations. Generally speaking human beings do not like to “lose.”
Out of these situations, ganking is easily the most frowned upon. The lower player has absolutely no chance (or a very very small chance) of killing their persecutor and a small-to-no chance of running away. Is it fair? No. Is it allowed?
…
Yes.

I was going to quote that page but I ended up wanting to quote the entire page and that would’ve been too long.
According to Blizzard, these actions are considered by some to be “dishonorable” but are in fact legitimate pvp tactics. If you don’t want to be attacked by other players, DON’T ROLL ON A PVP SERVER!!! GEEZ!! Either go roll on a PvE server… or go play Hello Kitty Island Adventure.
Even though Blizzard allows it, I do not generally participate in “ganking.” And if I do, I will kill them no more than once. My friend’s behavior of repeatedly killing that poor boy… maybe that was over the top. But not wrong. I think the real crime here is putting your nephew on a pvp server, idiot.
Camping. If I encounter a reasonably-close-levelled character of the opposite faction, I will attack them. It’s a pvp server after all, in case I haven’t mentioned that before!! If I am successful, my normal rule is to wait there and kill them at least 1 more time, then leave. I don’t really want to spend hours of my time wasting hours of someone else’s time. That, and they tend to call in their 80 friends and then I don’t get to play. However… if they happen to be trying to quest on the same mobs I am, in the same subzone I am, I am likely to get them out of my way repeatedly. Not out of malice, not out of spite, but out of necessity. Dog eat dog. Player kill player. It’s war, get over it.
PvP. If two agreeable parties within a reasonable amount of gear/skill level are compatible for pvp combat, then anyone who QQ’s and complains and whines deserves to be slapped. Hard. QQ MOAR NOOB. Oh yeah, and you are automatically “agreeable” if you rolled on a pvp server. If you lose, you fail. You have no one to blame but yourself.
To the 5 year old I made cry today… and to his angry uncle… I’m not sorry. You signed up for a war. World of WARcraft. NOT World of Peacecraft. All I have done today (I hope) is convince you to try again on a pve server. If this isn’t your kind of gameplay, this isn’t your kind of game. Bringing a 5 year old to a pvp server was a bad idea in the first place. Be grateful you learned this lesson at level 58 and not at level 75. You still have a chance.

Isn’t repeated camping and killing of a significantly lower leveled player considered “griefing” and against the ToS?
“griefing” is only against the ToS on a pve server =P
unless some behavior is particularly obscene or against those kind of rules, any form of pvp is pvp.
“Hey, life is PvP!”
Red is dead.
Dark/Soth, read the link. It’s considered dishonorable but they won’t lift a finger to help you.
Now go to a PvE server and just run around killing all their quest mobs… yes, they will consider that griefing.
But PvP server and *gasp* player versus player interaction occurring? That’s the name of the game.
OK. I misunderstood. There is something inherently wrong with a person that camps a lowbie over and over though. PvP server or not. You are basically saying, I’m not just going to kill you once. I want to exploit a significant power advantage and fuck up your day at with no personal gain of my own, just because I can.
And… you see a problem with that?
=P
LOL. Poor kid. But he is maybe too young to play? I bet if the 5yr old saw some lvl50 holy priest he could kill he would not hesitate.. I know my 11yr old is blood thirsty.
I have no problem when people attack him. I just tell him to get his higher alt or log off for a bit.
The people who piss me off are the ones who are on your own side and maybe your doing like 1300dps because your 11 years old and are not all into what makes an awesome rotation yet.. and some dude in your own party just keeps calling you names.
Nothing wrong with killing someone in a PVP server…they danger comes with the territory. But ganking someone over and over again, not so much. One time its all good.
I hate pvp so I don’t give a hoot about the rules. Would not roll on a pvp server. Did want to say though: that bit about doing things to children IRL? Not cool. He deserves to be ganked. You have to be pretty damn childish to accuse someone of something like that simply because you got camped. And I used to play Quake 3. Nothing like having every spawn point camped by the otherside and there were no GM’s to do shit about it.
