I was tagged for a dps meme by Arioch of Clearcasting. I find this amusing, because I have been a tree for so long I’ve forgotten I even have other forms.
I may be struck down by some meme gods out there, but I am going to create my own meme: The Healing Meme.
The DPS Meme
What is the name, class, and spec of your primary healing?
Delerius, Druid, Restoration
What is your primary healing environment? (i.e. raids, pvp, 5 mans)
Whatever my friends force me into at the time. 😛 5 mans are stupidly quick now with the dungeon finder, I click the “healer” button and I’m in the instance within 5 seconds. I’m also a healer for the guild’s 10 man raids. I’d like to heal in pvp, I hear resto druids are overpowered, but my friend laughs at my 42 resilience and refuses to arena with me haha.
What is your favorite healing spell/ability for your class and why?
I love my Lifebloom. While levelling I disliked Rejuvenation because it only ticks every 3 seconds… and I had to wait a full 3 seconds before I got any heals from it. Then I got Lifebloom and it was like “omg it ticks EVERY SECOND!!”.
What healing spell do you use least for your class and why?
Tranquility. I have it on my action bars, I even have it keybound. Until yesterday I even had it talented. But frankly, any time the raid is taking MASSIVE damage and need mad heals, I probably don’t have the freedom to stand still and channel some spell.
What do you feel is the biggest strength of your healing class and why?
Being able to heal while CC’ed. Even if I’m feared/stunned/have mobs eatting my leafy butt, if I have HoTs up on the tank he’s still getting heals. I learned to love being a druid on Confessor Paletress from HTOC. Shammys are nice too on that one.
What do you feel is the biggest weakness of your healing class and why?
Lack of on-demand heals. OMG that guy is going to bite the dust if he doesn’t get heals in 2 seconds, I can’t handle that. I have no Holy Shock, Riptide, all I have is that macro with a 3 minute cooldown. I hope it’s up. Rejuvenation takes 3 seconds to tick, 1 tick of Lifebloom probably won’t cut it. Spot healing is not the best.
In a 25 man raiding environment, what do you feel, in general, is the best healing assignment for you?
Tank healing. The common (mis)conception out there is that druids are amazing raid healers, but as I said above we can’t “spot heal” as well as other classes. I would much rather keep my arsenal of HoTs up on 1 or 2 tanks, and occasionally throw out rejuvenations when I feel like it. HoTs are constant healing, tanks are taking constant damage. It’s a match made in Dalaran.
What healing class do you enjoy healing with most and why?
Shammy. Totems for spellpower, totems for mana regen, other totem for massive mana regen, totems to break me out of fear, yeah. And they have the spot healing that I can’t handle myself.
What tanking class do you enjoy healing with least and why?
Rogues. Oh wait, you say rogues aren’t tanks? Well I’ve seen too many eager to pull aggro, pull mobs/boss before we’re ready, and take lots of damage very quickly. Rogues are so squishy, I can’t heal them fast enough. Bad tanks.
What is your worst habit as a healer?
Not paying attention to when the tank pulls. Ideally I have HoTs up on the tank before the pull, again I’m not big on spot healing. If I don’t notice until 5, 10 seconds after the pull my first clue will very likely be some big dragon chomping on my leafy butt.
What is your biggest pet peeve in a group environment while healing?
Dps that pull aggro. They make my life stressful and unpleasant, they make me feel bad when they die. Come on people, there are addons that show your threat, your class has some ability that reduces aggro, AND GOD GAVE YOU A BRAIN FOR A REASON!
Do you feel that your class/spec is well balanced with other healers?
I have my niche and they have theirs. I have a buff, I have an aura, about the only thing I can think of I don’t have is a passive ability when I heal that makes the tank take less damage or something. I can at least think of priests and shammies having something like that… but I’m too lazy to look it up.
What tools do you use to evaluate your own performance as a damage dealer?
Did I keep people alive? Duh. I almost never look at healing meters, if I do I’m only checking for overheals. Druids have a lot of problems with overheals thanks to how our HoTs work, but I’ve done pretty well in minimizing that and I’m proud of it.
What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about your class?
That we are the best raid healers ever and shouldn’t be on tanks. See above.
What do you feel is the most difficult thing for new healers of your class to learn?
Which HoTs to use when. We have 4 different HoTs, you cannot possibly keep all 4 up on all 10 raid targets all the time. And even if you could, you’d be out of mana so quickly it would be stupid. There are priorities for which target to heal, and which spell to use at which time. It takes practice.
What healing class do you feel you understand least?
Priests. My highest priest was level 13. By level 80 they have so many Prayers of Whats-That and Hymns of Something-Else and Circle of Pretty-Sparkles and I have no idea what else. One of these days I’ll level a priest to 80, just so I can see what they’re all about.
What add-ons or macros do you use, if any, to aid you in healing?
I use a gazillion addons. The biggest thing that has made my life so much easier is my Grid and mouseover macro combo.
Tag!
I got to this point and realized I don’t really read any healing blogs. But since I was tagged for a dps meme as a tree, I have no problem tagging a fire-specced mage for this healing meme. At least he’s offspecced resto.
